Grecotel Rhodos Royal is a luxurious 4 * hotel located 11 km from the best preserved medieval city in Europe, Rhodos. The charming island of Rhodos is not only one of the most popular holiday destinations in Greece, but also the largest island of the Dodecanese sea. The favorable climate, the beautiful beaches, the rich culture and the varied nature convinced us to discover Rhodos!

Grecotel, the best of Greece
Grecotel is a popular hotel chain in Greece where they put a lot of effort in quality, hospitality, gastronomy and ecology. We often felt more a number than a person in large hotels. You need to admit, this is not the feeling you want to start your holiday with. The staff of Grecotel is one large family which results in an impeccable and personal service with a big smile.
A second aspect that Grecotel Rhodos Royal distinguishes from other hotels is their ecological commitment. For these efforts they even received the award of ‘European Blue Flag clean sea & organized beach’. This label has been obtained by the many sustainability efforts that they provide such as installing solar panels for heating hot water, saving energy using ‘dimmer controls’, double glass, washing machines with energy recovery systems,… Since 1992 they have been active in the field of environmental policy. Good job Grecotel!
Of course the eye wants its part. Grecotel is a pioneer in ‘luxury hotels’ and attaches great importance to the appearance of their hotels. Grecotel Rhodos Royal has recently completed major renovation works in all the bungalows, restaurants, lounge and swimming pool. Each Grecotel has its own style and charm that tries to reflect the surroundings. This can range from a sleek modern to the authentic Greek style.
Grecotel Rhodos Royal, nice to meet you
The warm welcome of Grecotel immediately put a smile on our faces. A refreshing drink based on watermelon gave us the energy to discover the hotel and surroundings after an early flight! Immediately, it became clear to us that there was a very familiar atmosphere in the hotel, which we greatly appreciated.
3 x ‘S’; spacious, simplicity and soothing
The bungalows at Grecotel Rhodos Royal have recently been completely renovated (2019). The rooms are tastefully and minimalistly decorated in the so-called ‘Mediterranean village style‘ using light colors referring to simplicity, silence and tranquility (read: all white). Our favorite spot of the bungalow is without any doubt the terrace, where you can enjoy the wonderful Greek temperatures and the fresh sea air. There are different types of bungalows, namely the Superior bungalow poolside, Lux.me bungalow poolside and the Lux.me family bungalow poolside.

The interior of the Lux.me bungalow poolside
The Lux.me bungalow poolside was our home for one week, although we would have liked to stay longer . This accommodation is perfect for young families with 1 child because in selected bungalows the living area is separated by sliding panels.

Asia on your plate, M. Butterfly Asian restaurant
Our favorite restaurant is without a doubt the M. Butterfly Asian restaurant. Maybe it is because of our love for Asia and the Asian kitchen, but the dishes immediately impressed us. The brand new à la carte menu of M. Butterfly contains the most popular Asian delicacies that you can combine with an Asian cocktail or an exclusive wine from the Lux Me Rhodes Cava. The sushi combo is perfect to start your evening and will delight all sushi lovers among us. If you are not a sushi freak, you can always chose the appetizers combo with scampi, spring rolls and yakitori. Our main course was the Pad Thai noodles, I hear you thinking ‘classic’ but oh-so-good! Moreover, this restaurant was recently renovated with the necessary exotic culinary passion which makes this place even more special.

Sweet, sweeter, sweetest – Creperie & Gelaterie
Belgians and waffles, it is and remains an inseparable combination. In Grecotel Rhodos Royal they have a cozy, charming creperie where you can enjoy a tasty pancake with chocolate or a fresh ice cream during the day. A big chance that this, except for the pool, will be the favorite place of your children .

The Lux Me Rhodes has a beautiful lobby with centrally located a luxurious Lounge Lobby bar that immediately catches the eye. Those who suffer from a dry throat can go here for cocktails, soft drinks and hot drinks. The red velvet seats with tiger print are a daring choice but immediately highlight the charm of the hotel. We can say that the Lounge Lobby Bar is the perfect place to sip your cocktail and socialize.

Discovering the island
What are the highlights on the island and closeby Grecotel Rhodes Royal? We have to admit, it was a week of relaxation for us. We did 2 trips, one to Rhodos town and another one to Lindos.
The white city of Lindos
Lindos, at first sight, reminded us of little Santorini with all those little white houses. Once arrived, it turned out to be a tourist hotspot with many souvenir shops and narrow streets. On top of the city is the Acropolis and the ruins of the old castle. From here you can enjoy a beautiful view over the city of Lindos. Those who prefer to slow down can relax at the heart-shaped bay.

Rhodos, the island of the sun god
After 20 minutes on the bus we were in the center of Rhodos. The bus arrives every half hour in front of the hotel and costs 2.40 euros for a single ride. Our first stop was at the harbor where we walked on the pier, with the 3 typical Greek windmills, towards the castle Agios Nikólaos. The old part of the city is very well preserved and there are many remnants from Turkish history as mosques, a library and a bathhouse. The narrow and characteristic streets and small houses are very nice to see, but be careful not to get lost!
Flights to Rhodos
We flew with TUI fly to Rhodos, the island of the sun god. TUI fly is our reliable partner for flights because of their consistent quality and punctuality. You can fly to Rhodos from 79.99 euros from Brussels, Ostend, Charleroi, Liège and Lille. The flights start in April and run until the end of October.
