Komaneka resorts is one of Bali’s largest and most prestigious collection boutique hotels. They have 5 different resorts, Komanka at Monkey Forest, Komanka at Tangguyuda, Komanka at Bisma, Komanka at Rasa Sayang and their newest resort Komaneka at Keramas Beach, all located in tropical Ubud.
All hotels have the same concept, but have a typical characteristic. We stayed at Komanka at Monkey Forest and Komanka at Tangguyuda. Komaneka at Monkey Forrest is the first and most traditional resort which was built in 1997. This resort is centrally located in the heart of Ubud, right on the main street and nearby the famous Monkey Forest.

Komaneka at Tangguyuda is located in the Kedewatan village,which is a unique location with beautiful views on the jungle and the Oos river. Komaneka at Tangguyuda is mainly a honeymoon resort, located a 15-minute drive from Ubud city center. Most of the time loving couples stay here and want to relax and enjoy.

The staff of Komaneka is one big family, as many have worked there since the beginning. They make every effort to make their guests feel at home. One believes in a personal approach to the guests. In this way they speak to you with your first name, which contributes to the family atmosphere. Everyone their English is good and is very friendly and helpful. If you call for a particular problem, they will be at your door within 2 minutes to resolve the problem. Of course with a big smile.
In our opinion, their personal approach is THE big plus of these resorts!
Komaneka at Monkey Forest
Located behind the prestigious Komaneka Gallery, you will find the beautiful villas of Komaneka at Monkey Forest. These villas are surrounded by an oasis of greenery and peace, allowing you to escape the hustle and bustle of Ubud’s most famous street.
There are 2 types of villas namely the Monkey Forest suite and the Pool villa. We stayed in the suite with a private veranda and a small garden. The villas are very spacious and have a beautiful modern décor. All luxury is present, you even have apple tv! Attention is paid to the smallest details, little bags are pushed over the handles of the windows, the part of the bathroom with the ‘outdoor’ bath is well sealed so that no insects can come inside …
There is a lot of storage space, so people who stay for a little longer can keep away all their stuff. The bathroom was incredibly spacious and has a large walk-in shower and an outdoor bath.

The Pool Villa has a balcony overlooking the rice fields, instead of a veranda with small garden like the suite. The bathroom is slightly different, but very spacious and luxuriously decorated.

Komaneka at Tanguyada
Komaneka at Tanggayuda has 5 type of villas, namely the Garden Villa, Courtyard Pool Villa, Valley Pool Villa, Premiere Valley Pool Villa and Bale Daja 2Bedrooms Pool Villa. We stayed in the Valley Pool villa, which has a private veranda and garden pavilion. All villas are perfectly maintained, luxurious, spacious and peaceful. Especially the bathroom was very big, with a lovely bath, double sink and rain shower. What’s really nice is that they decorated the bath and the bed with flowers. This will definitely charm you when you step into your room.

The Love of Food
The breakfast was a finger-licking sensation. In Komaneka every day is another à la carte menu, so you have another breakfast every day. You can choose from different dishes such as yoghurt with muesli, sweet pancakes, fresh fruit, croissants, coffee cakes, fresh quinoa, eggs, avocado, … For those who like to have breakfast in bed, this can be brought to the villa without paying.
A good start of the day
If you stay in Komaneka, nothing will shorten you. For example, a free afternoon tea is organized daily from 4 pm to 5 pm. They serve different healthy juices and flavors of tea. There are several bites that you can try. If you like some bite, you can always ask for some more. Of course, they should not ask us 2 times if we want some more!

The Komaneka restaurants
There is one restaurant in Komaneka at Monkey Forest, namely the ‘Garden Terrace restaurant’. This is an open-air restaurant, where you can enjoy breakfast, lunch and dinner with a view of the garden. They prepare different dishes from Indonesian traditional food to Western and vegetarian dishes.
In Komaneka at Tanguyuda, centrally located is the ‘Batukaru Restaurant‘, this is just like in Komaneka at Monkey Forest an ‘open air’ restaurant. This restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Each time with a breathtaking view of the valley 
. It is very cozy to dine at candle light in the evening. They organize different type of diners like Romantic Moonlight Dinner, Romantic New Moon Dinner, Exotic Tanggayuda Barbecue and Red Light Special Dinner. As you read, all around the theme of “love.” The staff will do everything to make your stay as pleasant as possible. They are extremely hospitable and attentive to the smallest details, so they add a small table if you have a bag. Eye on details we call that!

Both in Komaneka at Monkey Forest and Komanka at Tanggayuda are the villas quietly located and offer a lot of privacy. However, the biggest difference is the location and the target audience, with Komanka at Tanggayuda focusing more on couples.

Komaneka at Monkey Forest is located in the heart of Ubud’s cultural center. Here, you will find beautiful rice fields and the resort itself has a beautifully maintained garden with lots of greenery. There is always a gardener working, which ensures the maintenance of the beautiful exotic garden. There is 1 large infinity pool with enough beds and a nice bar where you can have a drink or snack.

Sometimes you need to work a bit or you just want to sit and relax a bit. The business lounge is very pleasant place to sit and eventually work a little bit. This room is well-appointed and has water and biscuits. The Balinese cookies were really tasty! Certainly those with pieces of chocolate 
. There are seats, a computer with printer and a full salon available.

Komaneka at Tanggayuda
Komanka at Tanggayuda is built around the Tangguyada Valley and is larger than Komaneka at Monkey Forest. In the environment of the resort, you will find tropical fruit trees and exotic plants. This resort has 2 large swimming pools. One swimming pool is located somewhat quieter, as it is not located at the restaurant and thus has less passage. The other pool is an infinity pool with a breathtaking view over the valley. This pool is located in front of the Batukaru Restaurant and Rooftop Twilight Terrace. If the weather is nice, you can even see the Batukaru volcano! It’s a very relaxing place to swim, surrounded by the beautiful nature of Ubud!

Keep calm & enjoy
Both resorts have a spa, of which ‘Pandan Wangi Spa‘ is located in Komaneka at Monkey Forest. This name is derived from a traditional Balinese plant, used for sacrifices. The spa of Komaneka at Tanggayuda calls ‘Tirta Wangi Spa‘, which means ‘holy water and fragrant’ in Dutch. This term is the reference to the various smells of spices used in spa treatments. The spa is open every day from 9 am to 9 pm and is accessible to everyone, so also for people that doesn’t stay in the hotel. There is an extensive range of massages, body treatments, manicures, pedicures, etc. The Tirta Wangi Spa has a sauna and a jacuzzi center, where you can fully relax.

In Komaneka at Tangguyuda there is also a 24-hour fitness center. Here you can burn your calories, after all that good food. This gym also has a heated (smaller) swimming pool.
Batukaru, Traditional cooking
Balinese cuisine is an art itself. A traditional cuisine with local dishes and many herbs, which gives the dishes distinctive flavors. You can follow a Batukaru cooking lesson in Komaneka at Tanggayuda. In the morning you go to the local market, to get fresh ingredients and local products. Furthermore, you will process everything in the traditional way, so without mixer or all kinds of electronics. Would you like to prepare Nasi Campur ibu dp, Sate Campur or Rendang Sampi, participate to the traditional cooking class?
