Oriental Residence Bangkok – Iconic Traditional Luxury

29 October 2016

Oriental Residence Bangkok a luxurious hotel in the centre of Bangkok. After discovering the historical and cultural part of Bangkok, we were very curious about the economic heart of the city. The impressive skyscrapers, huge shopping centers, the exciting nightlife, the famous Lumpini park, several restaurants and so much more to discover!

True Luxury in Oriental Residence Bangkok

View from Oriental Residence Bangkok

We stayed in ‘Oriental Residence Bangkok‘, a luxurious 5-star hotel located in the heart of the shopping and embassy district of Bangkok. The hotel will blow you away! It has 32 spacious floors, with a panoramic swimming pool and fitness which are located on the 4th floor. You have a breathtaking view over the park and the skyline of Bangkok.

Right in the Heart of Bangkok

Oriental Residence Bangkok is perfectly located for anyone who wants to explore the economic center of Bangkok. There are countless opportunities to discover Bangkok but we found the BTS skytrain, taxi and tuk-tuk the best options for transportation. The BTS skytrain station ‘Phloen Chit’ is just a 5 minutes walk from the hotel, so we took the BTS skytrain most of the time. This is an inexpensive (120 bath pp. for a day pass), easy and fast way to get around in this rather busy city, where you lose a lot of time when you take a taxi because of the traffic jams.

Major attractions nearby Oriental Residence Bangkok

Several major attractions as Central ambassy (recent luxury shopping center), Siam Paragon & Sea Life Ocean World Bangkok, Chatuchak weekend market and Lumpini Park are all less than 4.5 km away from the hotel. For the shopaholics among us, you don’t know what you’ll see! You won’t believe your eyes because there are so many shops, restaurants, and even cinemas are integrated into a shopping center. Crazy, right?

We stayed in the Grand Deluxe room which is 45 m2, this room has a fully equipped modern kitchen with dining area, a king-size bed, a full marble bathroom with shower and separate bath. Oh, I almost forgot, there is also a dressing which is also one of the reasons I completely fell in love with these rooms. The rooms and the hotel are very stylish, chic, comfortable and very elegantly furnished with an eye for detail. Personally, I really loved the decor and style of this hotel. The rooms are very light, modern and create a peaceful and luxury atmosphere. They are very functional and feel like home.

Long stay rates

If you want to stay for a longer time (for a business trip or something), the hotel offers special long stay rates. These rooms are 45 to 160 m2 and you can choose if you want 1, 2 or 3 bedrooms.

Rooms as they should be

The rooms are very clean and everything is perfectly arranged on a daily basis such as the change of towels, a welcome drink and snack, night service, free supplement drinking water, coffee and tea … There are also super soft bathrobes, slippers, a sewing suite, toothbrush, various creams and shower gels available in the bathroom. So you almost don’t have to bring your toilet bag with you anymore! Not unimportant; all sockets are European/type C, so you don’t have to worry about other adapters!

Comfort Food

Cafe Claire is a classic and very elegant restaurant with a modern French touch. You can go here for breakfast, lunch and dinner. They serve refined dishes with high quality ingredients, and all this together showed amazing results! We had a room including breakfast, which was a very good choice. The breakfast is very extensive, in our opinion gives the Oriental Residence hotel more than a typical 5 star hotel. Culinary, they take care of their guests very well and offer exclusive products like salmon, which you don’t see often in hotels. You can have almost everything you want like hot dishes, fresh smoothies, yogurt, spreads, cheese, cereal, tasty pastries (tested and approved ) and there is always fresh exotic fruit available. If your room includes breakfast, you can always order an à la carte dish which is free of charge. We really loved the warm waffles with fruit and chocolate (we are Belgian, so we really had to try it ) and eggs that were prepared in all kinds of ways.

Practical tip:

The breakfast runs from 6:00 am to 10:30 am and you have to dress casual, so swimwear and suchlike clothing is not allowed.

Afternoon tea, yes please

Afternoon tea is a real tradition in Café Claire, from 14.30 am – 17.00 pm they offer an ‘afternoon tea ritual’. We hadn’t tested this English tradition yet, so this was also our first acquaintance with the famous Afternoon tea. You get all kinds of sweets such as macaroons, scones with clotted cream and jam, fine sandwiches with some nice toppings, cakes and local delicacies all combined with a warm cup of tea. I’m a big fan of all sweet things, so this really was like heaven on earth for me. “A cup of tea is an excuse to share great thoughts with great minds.”

The Play deck

Furthermore, the hotel has “The play deck”, where the bar is located at the beautiful infinity pool. Here, you can enjoy the skyline of Bangkok with a delicious exotic cocktail in your hand. “Savelberg Thailand” is a French gourmet restaurant located next to Oriental Residence Bangkok, here you can taste the fine French cuisine. Finally, there is the “Oriental bar” on site, where you can make a toast with some refreshing drinks.

General results:

  • This place can best be described as luxurious, design and pure enjoyment.
  • We had a very good experience with ‘Oriental residence Bangkok’.
  • Ideal for couples, families, long stays for example business trips
  • 5 star hotel which is definitely worth it
  • Ideal location to discover the economic area of Bangkok and to shop
  • We would highly recommend this hotel for all who like to have a luxurious stay
