POD Camps Bay, barefoot luxury in Cape Town

POD Camps Bay is a luxurious boutique hotel in the residential area of Camps Bay in Cape Town. This district shows a completely different face of Cape Town with its white beaches and wealthy neighbourhoods. If you are lucky, you might spot a celeberty or a famous bodybuilder.

POD Camps Bay, more than just a hotel

POD Camps Bay was designed by a Dutch architect ‘Greg Wright Architects’. This hotel was built in 2012 with an eye for detail and a sense of style. The use of high-quality materials and the latest ‘green’ technology ensures that this hotel contributes to nature. Furthermore, POD tries to compensate some of the ’emissions’ of the guests by planting a tree in a school, a community or in a deforested area in the Western Cape. Once the tree has been planted, a geo-tag certificate of the location is issued, which guarantees that they remain true to the promise of ecological sustainability. A 2nd project of POD Camps Bay was started by the architect’s wife. She has given a former drug dealer a new start. This by supporting his creative freedom and exhibiting his art at the hotel, where guests can buy the artworks.

Location on point

Just a few meters from the surfers beach of Camps bay with its many restaurants and bars, you can find the modern hotel POD Camps Bay. The beach of Camps Bay is one of the most popular and beautiful beaches in Cape Town, where you can admire beautiful sunsets! We are really excited about the central, but quiet location. Another big plus is that the office of the hop-on-hop-off bus is about 500 meters away. These buses are an easy and inexpensive way to see the various highlights of Cape Town. Those who want to move independently should opt for an UBER taxi. This works extremely well and quickly in Cape Town!

Start the day with a healthy breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and POD Camps Bay shares the same opinion. In the morning an extensive breakfast is served so you can sit there filling your belly. All kinds of fresh fruits, yoghurt, granola, muesli, fresh muffins, bread, salmon, Nutella, … Anyone who is still a bit hungry can order an à la carte dish. Our favorite dish are the French pancakes with Nutella! POD Camps Bay is a boutique hotel and does not have its own restaurant, but do not worry! There are several good restaurants in the area and even a Hard Rock Café! Those who prefer to stay in the hotel for a romantic dinner can choose from different dishes that are delivered by different restaurants in the neighbourhood.

The bar of POD Camps Bay has a beautiful terrace with swimming pool, where you can enjoy one of the beautiful African sunsets. This together with a cocktail makes it even more complete! Since this is a boutique hotel, there is no need to worry about getting a spot nearby the pool.

We stayed in the Classic room with views on Lion’s Head and on Camps Bay beach. With a view like this, there is nothing you need more

! The rooms range from 17m2 to 75 m2 and are equipped with all necessary luxuries and a modern design. To finish the rooms, they used various qualitative materials such as tropical hardwood, granite, glass, … All rooms starting from the Classic room have a spacious terrace with views on the Table Mountain or the Atlantic Ocean.
